No. 10 Subway line connecting new city zones of Beijing opened for engineering trials here on Thursday Jan. 28, as part of the subway expansion for the Olympic Games andas relief for the city’s congested roads.
The first phase of Line 10 connects new regions built in the past two decade in southeast and northwest Beijing.
Line 10 has been under construction since December 2003. The line is expected to have the most stations of any one subway line. The first segment of line 10, which will open on weekends, is 24.55 kilometers long. It starts near Bagou in northwestern Beijing, passes through Zhongguancun and the Olympic venues, and ends on East 3rd Ring Road in the central business district.
