While wandering about the streets the visitor will find many small local shops stocking cheap, everyday porcelain and poetry, rice bowls, storage pots and small ornaments which are often quite appealing. In Qianmen Dajie are two shops selling modern porcelain. The Hunan Pottery Products Store (No. 99) has tea sets, bowls, plates, vases and ornaments all made in Changsha, capital of Hunan Province. The Jingdezhen Porcelain Shop (No. 149/151) has products from the principal porcelain center in China, Jingdezhen in Jiangxi Province. Pottery has been made there since the second century BC and during the Northern and Southern Dynasties (317-589) its porcelain grace the Labels of the imperial Court. Both Chinese and Western dinner services arc for sale in various designs, including the famous blue and white rice pattern.
